In the world of R.L. Stein, upon whose young-adult horror books this popular TV show was based, the world of the supernatural is ever-present in the everyday world. It can and does show up at any moment, and in this, the show`s only trilogy of episodes, the supernatural takes the form of a mysteriously enchanting model town. The antique toy seems to lure children in, turning them into mere shells of their former selves, and afflicting their dreams. When rich kid Jessica visits the garage sale that Matthew and Todd`s family are hosting, she bullies them into giving her a rare baseball card on the cheap. Returning home, her brother`s request for a donation to their parents` anniversary fund is met with more greed on Jessica`s part. When she is assigned to sweep the attic, Jessica encounters the model town, and is suddenly transported to Karlsville, where her greed just might meet its awful reward. This is only the beginning, as Karlsville and its mysterious leader Karl lure the children in order to dole out punishments for their particular character flaws. Will the kids escape, or will they become permanent residents of the strange town of Karlsville?

This charming comic western features a winning performance by star Jason Robards as prospector Calble Hogue. Double-crossed and left for dead in the desert, Hogue recovers to find the only well for miles. Soon Hogue`s turned the place into a thriving oasis and eventually his treacherous partners return so Hogue can have the revenge he hankers. An unusual but winning offering from the notoriously violent Peckinpah.
